Harlech Welcomes you
Welcome to Harlech, a beautiful place, steeped in Legend situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, where the mountains meet the sea.
Here you will find an idyllic and relaxing location from which to explore the Snowdonia Mountains and Coastline. From North Wales, Snowdon and Portmeirion, into Mid Wales, Cader Idris and the old wool town of Dolgellau, you couldn’t be better placed. The whole of Snowdonia is open to you with its many and diverse attractions.
This wonderful location encompasses award winning beaches and stunning estuaries, backed by rugged mountains. Whether you are looking for sightseeing around the spectacularly sited Harlech Castle, playing golf on a championship course, walking the Rhinogs or just lazing on the sands, you are assured that the amenities, attractions and scenery, coupled with the warmth of our welcome will make you want to return again and again.
As well as a fantastic beach and superb Mountains you’ll find that Harlech is steeped in History. Even before Edward I had started building his famous Castle here, the ancient peoples were constructing their burial chambers such as those at Bryn Cader Faner. St Tanwg’s Church at Llandanwg was founded in AD435 towards the end of Britain’s Roman Occupation.
But maybe you might not want to just sit and look at ‘vistas’ all day waiting for a sunset on the off chance that one may turn up.
Right, so how about a championship Golf Course, Sailing, Fishing, a Church site that predates Canterbury Cathedral. Pony Trekking, 13th Century Castle designated as a World Heritage Site. Hill Walking amongst ancient monuments, Mountain Climbing, secluded lakes and woodlands. Fantastic beaches where you can walk for miles or find interesting shells, browse interesting independent shops – no, not the High Street ‘Chain’ variety that are all the same.
And, what about food? After a hard day on the beach collecting shells you’ll want some sustenance.
Food is very important here so we have provided a complete range and you could eat somewhere different each day with menus and budgets to suit all pockets and tastes. Where can I eat in Harlech.
Now, before you ask, yes, we will be throwing in some Weather, I know, its not available everywhere but we were up early and got a good set. This part of Snowdonia has its own microclimate, I’ll not bore you with the details, but the gist of it is because there are mountains just to the north, east and south of us and the mountains on the Llyn Peninsular to the west protect us, we have more good weather than many other parts of North Wales.
Still want more? Well, what about the Theatre, yes of course we have one, they show films, have live performances, music, dance etc depending on the programme, though it’s rare to get them all in one production and it has just been given a Digital update. Also, there is usually a production of Shakespeare performed in the Castle each summer.
If all this relaxing and unwinding, tempered with bursts of activity and culinary exploits and a helping of culture doesn’t interest you, then maybe you are looking for another sort of Holiday….
Whatever your reason for coming, be it Business or Leisure, you’ll find a small part will stay with you always, urging you to return and visit Harlech again.
Croeso i Harlech, Welcome to Harlech, we are looking forward to meeting you.
